This itinerary is designed to illustrate the gastronomy traditions of Ferrara. The bread (the famous coppie) the pastry pie with maccheroni (pasticcio), the pumpkin ravioli (cappelacci) and the tortelli (in Ferrara called cappelletti) the salama da sugo, fish from the Adriatic and local fruit and vegetable, the pampapato(a rich chocolate cake with spices) the delicate almonds biscuits mandorlini del Ponte and other local specialities. The local wines come from the sandy soil along the coast Bosco Eliceo, whose origins date back to the vines introduced from Burgundy in the 16th century. These gastronomic specialities will be illustrated in the historic centre of Ferrara.
