Comacchio land and water

Comacchio is an attractive little town in the Delta of the Po, characterized by a unique urban landscape surrounded by water. Crossing over the various bridges it is possible to view different buildings comacchio-acqua-e-terra of historical and artistic importance such as the bridge of the Trepponti, a symbol of Comacchio, along with the bridge of the Sbirri. This itinerary includes a visit inside the 18th century Palazzo Bellini with the Museum dedicated to the Roman Boat, Fortuna Maris; this boat, dating back to the Imperial Era, was discovered in 1981 a few kilometers from Comacchio. Here all the goods transported by the ship are on display together with the everyday utensils used by the crew. The walk continues to the centre as far as the Cathedral of San Cassiano with its characteristic bell tower. It is possible to visit the old Fish factory, recently restored and still in use today for the curing of eels, the most important product of Comacchio, of particular interest is the old smoking room with its 12 fireplaces and the pickling plant.
