The 1920’s: from Ferrara to Tresigallo, the city of the 1900’s
A few steps from the railway station, the starting point for this itinerary, it is possible to note some beautiful examples of villas in Liberty style architecture in the area known as the “Quartiere Giardino” (Garden Quarter), the main centre of architecture of the 1920′s in Ferrara. The typical characteristics of fascist style architecture can been seen in the buildings of the elementary schools, in the imposing monumental Aqueduct, the Fascist Party Headquarters, the Aeronautic building and in the central Post Office. We then cross through the historical centre retracing the tragic events that are related to this historical era. The theme of the racial laws will be discussed during the visit to the Jewish Cemetery.
Following this visit the coach will continue to Tresigallo, the small capital of Italian Rationalism. The town represents a sort of museum of fascist style architecture set in a rural context.
